The power of Carob Powder

Odds are, the words “carob powder” are foreign to you. If you have heard them before, you’re one of the lucky few that knows about this amazing cocoa replacement.  Carob powder comes from a (you guessed it) carob tree, commonly grown in the Western Europe and used for thousands of years as a natural sweetener.

Carob powder is the perfect chocolate substitute. While it has a different taste and texture, it contains significantly less fat, saturated fat, or cholesterol. In addition, it has 3 times the amount of calcium as cocoa.

Carob powder or chips can easily be used as a substitute in recipes requiring cocoa powder. Just be careful to read the label or nutrition information when buying it to ensure it is as natural as possible.
