An Alternative to Sports Drinks

Many of you paleo readers are likely on an exercise regimen, which means you’re also likely drinking some form of an energy drink like Gatorade. After all, they replace much-needed electrolytes, right?

They do, but at the expense of taking in large amounts of sucrose syrup, glucose-fructose syrup, citric acid, artificial flavors and dyes, and salt. In other words sugar and salt.

However, there is a way to make a drink to easily replace the electrolytes that is paleo and free of most, if not all, of the dangerous ingredients of off-the-shelf sports drinks. Simply brew tea, or coconut water  and add in a small amount of sea salt. If you desire, also add a natural sweetener like honey or some natural flavoring.

Voila, a natural, healthy alternative to a normal sports drinks!
